Chavurot

Chavurot are small groups of members who gather together for friendship, study, prayer, and celebration to enhance their Jewish lives.  They determine their own activities and meeting times, usually in members’ homes. Contact Program Director, Ronnie Brockman, by email at rbrockman@shaare-emeth.org or by phone, 314-569-0010, for additional information.

Music - Zamir Chorale and Kol Simcha Choir

Music plays an important role in all of our programs, from preschool through seniors. The Zamir Chorale in memory of Louise Teper is our adult volunteer choir, which enhances our worship services on a monthly basis. Our Kol Simcha Children’s Choir also provides joy at special celebrations. During the year, both groups also sing at a variety of concerts and programs throughout the area.  To become a part of these joyous groups, please contact Cantor Seth Warner by email at swarner@shaare-emeth.org or by phone at 314-569-0010.

Rosh Chodesh Groups

These groups meet monthly, providing creative opportunities for small groups of women to study, worship, and socialize together.

Holiday Celebrations

Holiday celebrations at Shaare Emeth are wonderful opportunities for congregants of all ages to celebrate together. Children and adults alike learn, celebrate, pray, and most of all, enjoy our holidays. Our annual programs include "Simchat Sukkot,"which offers programs from Breakfast in the Sukkah to Neighborhood Sukkot parties. There is also a Sukkot dinner and service for all ages, a Young Adult Sukkot gathering, and more. Our Chanukah celebration has become well known for its BBQ dinner, activities, service for all ages, and Tzedakah projects for the community, as well as other programs during the week. Tu B'Shevat Seders and environmental awareness activities enhance our congregant’s celebration and awareness, Purim brings out all ages to hear the “Purim Shpiel”, the reading of the Megillah and Carnival-like activities.  Passover brings all ages together at our annual Matzah Brei Brunch, cooked by our staff, with a bit of study and activities and sometimes our Passover Institute. Our annual Lag B’Omer Picnic and Dinner has also brought the tradition of cutting hair at this time and an awareness of helping others through Locks of Love. Services are also held on Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and the first night of Sukkot, and Simchat Torah and one night during Chanukah and Purim.
